Advanced Placement Honor for WHS
Westbrook High School has earned Gold recognition on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll, an honor that highlights schools expanding access to Advanced Placement coursework while supporting strong student outcomes. This distinction reflects WHS’s commitment to building a college-going culture, increasing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and promoting college readiness. Congratulations to our students and teachers, with sincere appreciation to our superintendent and community for their continued support of academic excellence.
Safety and Security
Westbrook Youth and Family Services, in collaboration with other local town Youth and Family Services agencies, is hosting an online safety workshop for parents called "Parenting in the Smartphone Years." This is the second workshop in the series, and is geared towards parents who are navigating their child having a phone and being safe while gaming and on social media. A recording of the first workshop, which was about slow tech parenting, is available at the same link. Parents did not need to have attended the first workshop in order to attend the second workshop. Registration and all resources can be found by clicking this link.
School safety and security remain a top priority. We regularly conduct safety drills to ensure students and staff are prepared in a variety of situations. Our most recent fire drill was unannounced. Students and staff acted swiftly, safely, and quietly. In an effort to be prepared for any situation, WHS will practice a drill that is both unannounced and occurs while students are not in a classroom space.

As the winter season continues, regular season games are well underway, and our teams are showing steady improvement through their hard work and dedication.
Congratulations to WHS Field Hockey coaches Janet Dickey and Emily Alger on being named the Southern New England Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
